    Calvados is an apple- or pear-based brandy from Normandy, France, and is a controlled appellation of origin.

    In addition to apple and pear, you can discern notes of spices, toffee, dried fruits, chocolate and oak in Calvados.

    Tips for use

    Calvados is served alongside coffee and used in mixed drinks and in cooking.

    According to the people of Normandy, Calvados creates a hole in the stomach when enjoyed at the end of a heavy meal. Calvados can also be mixed in cocktails or added to desserts for flavour. Calvados can also be used for flambéing. Calvados is served at room temperature.
