Casseroles are usually rich in flavour yet quite smooth due to their long cooking times. A similarly rich and smooth beverage will therefore work well with them. If your food is very fatty, you can cut it with a well-balanced beverage.

Almost any red wine will work with beef, as long as it’s full-bodied enough. You can also opt for full-bodied beers with beef.

Strong cheeses work well with comparably full-bodied beverages. If you opt for wine, it will often be sweet and maybe even fortified.

Chicken and turkey meat is pale and lean. Light beverages usually work best with them, but the more flavour there is, the more full-bodied your drink can be.
